I'm writing a paper for my college english class.. and I need a little help on where to find information supporting this question.. thanks!Do you consider relationships a science?
I don't quite know how to answer a question THAT broad, but I would consider to include in your paper the whole online dating. You put in data about yourself, and it SCIENTIFICALLY pairs you with people that would cator to your needs and could accept your flaws. It is just another angle that is worth considering.Do you consider relationships a science?
Get this book:
Recovering Love by J. Richard Cookerly
This is a good how-to book on making and strengthening love relationships. (Ignore the subtitle) It's based on good solid scientific research.
Relationships are not a science. Relationships can be studied by science. But science has a very hard time even describing human relationships.
Unlike chemistry which uses billions of atoms to study reactions, studies of human relationships are done on so few a number of people that the statistical numbers are flawed. (Too small of a sample to form a true generalization).
Places like eHarmony.com use a testing procedure to check interests and compatibility which leads to better communication and therefore a higher success rate than a random meeting.
I think that crythsania has the right idea. The site below should lead to some good references:
the personality profile on Eharmony is free, and you don't have to persue matches right away or anything.
In the process of taking the test, science as relates to courtship is discussed, many coorelations and whatnot.
There are new online dating sites that are calling this method ';cold and utiliterian'; as if you're asking a computer for a good date. Fact is relationships have been studied for many years and there is some underlying truth that some people are better suited for others than some, of course like anything there are exceptions to the rule...
Still this method of narrowing the search from just any man (assuming you're a woman) it just weeds things down to men who'd compliment your attributes and also balances your personality with theirs.
I have found working with these sites has made the online dating scene more productive.
More like an excercise in communication.
Relationships are a social science. They deal with introvert, extrovert, psychological matters and hormones that are released during physical, mental, and emotional relationships.
